Founder of Best Care Ever Med group, LLC and Jose A. Goris, MD, PC., he is also an affiliate physician of Saint Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, vice president of the Corinthian Medical IPA group and treasurer of the Dominican Medical-Dental Society, Inc., among others.<\/p>

He asserts that the key to success has been \"work, work and work.\" Working 12-hour days, Dr. Goris has seen the results of his personal effort through all phases of his career. His medical practice that began in a small office in 1997 has been transformed over the years into a modern health center that has 4 medical offices and 5 doctors assigned to its medical practice, located in the heart of the Hispanic community of Manhattan and the Bronx counties in New York City.<\/p>

His passion for medicine, hard work, strong core values, and ties to the community have led to great achievements in his professional life.<\/p>

LANDS IN NEW YORK<\/b>

After graduating in Medicine in his native country, Dominican Republic with Cum Laude honors in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and practicing for 3 years working in the dispensary of the parish of his town and as a volunteer in the local hospital in the Dominican Republic, decides to move to the United States in 1986 in search of new horizons.<\/p>

He arrived in New York and during the first three years he had to face all the vicissitudes of an immigrant with limited resources, poor job prospects and language barriers.<\/p>

ACHIEVES HIS GOALS<\/b><\/span><\/p>

One day, by chance of fate, when riding the bus, his life do a turn for the better. He met a friend who helped him obtain his residency at Columbia University's Harlem Hospital Center, training which he completed in 1994.<\/p>

His professional achievements continued to multiply and between 1995 and 1997, he subspecialized at Yeshiva University, in the Bronx, NY and completed two very important specialties in his career: one in surgical pathology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the other in immunopathology at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital, NY.<\/p>

Lecturer, author of influential publications and scientific studies, Dr. Goris has been the recipient of great recognitions and awards. Among them, the Research Award from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.<\/p>

At the health policy level, he holds the position of Health Commissioner for minorities in the State of New York, being the first Hispanic to hold that post.<\/p>

COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY<\/p>

His first medical practice that has not changed its address since it opened in 1997 has allowed him to see and meet the needs of the area residents.<\/p>

 \u201cI maintain strong ties with my patients and with the Latino community in New York\u201d he affirms and continues \u201cI also actively participate with the Dominican Medical-Dental Society where we organize aid missions every year to the Dominican Republic, bringing hundreds of health professionals to offer free surgeries. We plan medical symposiums to afford our members the latest scientific trends, and we schedule activities in the community to help our own.<\/p>

Dr. Goris is also part of SOMOS Community Care, a physician-led, non-profit organization that provides medical care to New York City's most vulnerable communities.<\/p>"}
